The occasion, which sought to discuss the challenges Latin America faces in terms of Intellectual Property, brought together more than 50 specialists from the academic, institutional and business sectors.

In mid-March, the first version of the \u201cSmart IP for Latin America\u201d \u200b\u200bcongress was held in Chile, organized by the National Institute of Industrial Property (INAPI) together with the Max Planck Institute of Germany.<\/p>\n

Gerard Casaubon, director of the Center for Research and Innovation (CRI) of Vi\u00f1a Concha y Toro, participated in one of the dialogue groups on Intellectual Property in technological goods markets, sharing with national and international experts on the role of intellectual property as an incentive or barrier to innovation in socially sensitive sectors.<\/p>\n

The CRI is naturally integrated into this discussion, since its main objective is to generate new knowledge through applied research and to transform that knowledge into value for the company and the industry.<\/p>\n

\u201cFor this reason, it is not just about the contribution that the CRI can make to the Intellectual Property discussion, but it is also fundamental that our research team has knowledge and skills in Intellectual Property protection,\u201d Gerard explains.<\/p>\n

For the director of the CRI, this seminar was a valuable contribution to the discussion on Intellectual Property in the country and the region: \u201cThere was a high standard discussion, very current in these matters and that can be related to the challenges that the CRI faces, providing us new views on how to maximize, both the protection instruments, and the design of the long-term strategy on Intellectual Property\u201d.<\/p>\n

After the event, the director of the Max Planck Institute, Mr. Reto Hilty, along with congress investigators, Francisco Baneke, Matthias Lamping, Pedor Batista and Juan Antonio Vives, visited the winery in Pirque, where they took the Marques de Casa Concha tour.<\/p>\n
