The company is committed to managing water use with maximum care and efficiency, and has reduced the amount of water used in its operations year after year.\u00a0<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

Vi\u00f1a Concha y Toro maintains a strong commitment to carrying out all its operations in harmony with the environment, aiming to be a leader in sustainable wine industry practices through initiatives such as efficient water use.<\/p>\n

The company has made significant progress in this area through responsible management, recognizing that water availability and conservation are continuous challenges for the industry and society as a whole.<\/p>\n

In 2019, the renowned sustainability index released by CDP highlighted the company as a leader in sustainable water management, awarding it the maximum rating of \u201cA\u201d in water security.<\/p>\n

Since 2010, Concha y Toro has conducted annual measurements of its water footprint, an environmental indicator that defines the total volume of fresh water used to produce goods and services, in line with the Water Footprint Network (WFN) methodology. In that time, the winery has reduced its water footprint from 72 liters\/glass in 2010 to 55 liters\/glass in 2020, below the industry average of 109 liters\/glass.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Vi\u00f1a Cono Sur has reduced its water use in winemaking processes by 27% compared to 2015. In 2019, the winery also started to measure the amount of water it recycled, primarily from the hydration of new barrels, with 347,610 liters of water reclaimed and reused in the cleaning process during the year.<\/p>\n

Our Argentinean subsidiary, Trivento, has continued its efforts to reduce water use in its vineyards and wine cellar through responsible management. In 2020, Trivento reduced its water use per case of wine (9L) by 39.7%.<\/p>\n
