Through a series of exclusive master classes, two great wines from Puente Alto are also being presented: Don Melchor 2019 and the new wine Marques de Casa Concha Heritage 2020.<\/p>\n
With the aim of continuing to position the Puente Alto appellation as a world-class terroir, Vi\u00f1a Concha y Toro has prepared a series of masterclasses – to be held in Chile, the United States, Brazil, China and other markets – that seek to promote this origin internationally and also support Chile’s image as a producer of great wines.<\/p>\n
The events are be led by Isabel Guilisasti, Vicepresident of Fine Wines and Corporate Image of Vi\u00f1a Concha y Toro, and the prominent winemakers Enrique Tirado and Marcelo Papa, and also present two great wines from Puente Alto: Don Melchor vintage 2019 and the new wine Marques de Casa Concha Heritage vintage 2020.<\/p>\n
Marques de Casa Concha Heritage, which debuts with the 2020 vintage, is a Bordeaux blend that seeks to faithfully express the terroir from which all this winemaking tradition and heritage originated. The grapes come from a meticulous selection of the El Mariscal and Don Melchor vineyards. It is composed primarily of Cabernet Sauvignon (84%), Cabernet Franc (12%) and Petit Verdot (4%). Each of these varieties gives a specific characteristic to the final blend, which will vary from year to year depending on the vintage.<\/p>\n
“Marques de Casa Concha Heritage is a wine that faithfully reflects the elegance of Puente Alto and embodies all the heritage of that origin, but with a distinctive and new seal,” says Marcelo Papa, winemaker and technical director of Concha y Toro.<\/p>\n
Don Melchor, the first icon wine of the Chilean industry, launches its 2019 vintage, which is also a faithful reflection of its origin, Puente Alto, and the rigorous work led by the Technical Director and Winemaker of Vi\u00f1a Don Melchor, Enrique Tirado, to understand every detail of the terroir and obtain the best expression of it.<\/p>\n
The 2019 vintage is composed of 92% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Cabernet Franc, 2% Merlot and 1% Petit Verdot, and spent 15 months in French oak barrels, 72% new and 28% second use.<\/p>\n
“Don Melchor is for me the constant search for the best expression of each of the vines in the vineyard, in order to achieve in each vintage the beauty of the balance of the Puente Alto terroir. That is my true obsession. I use all the knowledge and technology as tools to achieve a greater understanding, but above all, observing and feeling each plant and wine is what allows us to achieve the perfect balance in each vintage”, says Enrique Tirado.<\/p>\n
