Carbon footprint measurements between 2011 and 2021 showed a decrease of 49% of CO2e in direct emissions (produced by the company), while indirect emissions (suppliers) reflected a decrease of 30%.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

The carbon footprint represents the impact of human activities on our atmosphere. Through various internal sustainable initiatives and as a result of collaborative work with its supply chain, Concha y Toro has managed to reduce 49% of CO2e emissions in the last 10 years, which has been framed in the company’s sustainability campaign.<\/p>\n

Since 2007, with the first measurement of carbon emissions, Concha y Toro has been a pioneer in the reduction of emissions, in order to reduce the negative impacts on the environment and to contribute to the global goals of reducing emissions and a low-carbon future, demonstrating the company’s sustainable vision.<\/p>\n

The company began working with its suppliers in 2011, with the goal of generating reductions in all areas of the supply chain, impacting the reduction of direct emissions, which are produced by the company, and indirect emissions, which are those produced by suppliers during the various processes.<\/p>\n

In 2011, there was a significant milestone in the characterization of the winery’s emission sources. 90% of its emissions came from upstream sources, that is, from its supply chain. This led to a determined action to counteract this effect and begin to involve its suppliers in climate action, with excellent results.
\nBetween 2017 and 2021, the company has accumulated reductions that go beyond its voluntarily set targets. In 2021, the tons of CO2e emitted amounted to 181 thousand, when the projected was 225 thousand tons, demonstrating that as the company grows, emissions go down.<\/p>\n

In 2018, with the help of the flexibilization of the energy market in Chile, renewable electricity was incorporated, which allowed Concha y Toro to increase its use and reduce emissions associated with energy.<\/p>\n

Thus, emissions in 2021 reached 181 thousand tons of CO2e, while the target for 2025 was 180 thousand tons, demonstrating the great work done by Concha y Toro and its suppliers in a climate commitment that is reinforced through internal efforts and in the value chain.<\/p>\n

“As the company grows, our carbon emissions have decreased, this is thanks to a long task that Concha y Toro has done in sustainability, and that has found fertile ground with our suppliers. Today, incorporating the supply chain in climate goals is key for companies and in our case, our suppliers have been up to the challenge. We are on the right track, but far from feeling that we have achieved our goal, this invites us to aspire to a better future to achieve Concha y Toro’s sustainable vision”, commented Concha y Toro’s Sustainability Manager, Valentina Lira.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Through the company’s sustainability vision we seek long-term virtuous links with our stakeholders supported by science, in order to contribute to the regenerative future in the areas where we are present.<\/p>\n

The reduction of carbon emissions is framed within the pillar of our planet, where Vi\u00f1a Concha y Toro aspires to be a better company every day, moving towards a regenerative philosophy.
