{"id":43644,"date":"2023-11-09T10:18:26","date_gmt":"2023-11-09T13:18:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vinacyt.com\/?p=43644"},"modified":"2023-12-12T10:19:44","modified_gmt":"2023-12-12T13:19:44","slug":"survivors-of-the-miracle-of-the-andes-visit-vina-don-melchor","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vinacyt.com\/en\/noticia\/excellence\/survivors-of-the-miracle-of-the-andes-visit-vina-don-melchor\/","title":{"rendered":"Survivors of the miracle of the Andes visit Vi\u00f1a Don Melchor"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><em>Roberto Canessa and Antonio &#8220;Tintin&#8221; Vizint\u00edn experienced Don Melchor, Puente Alto &#8216;s icon Cabernet Sauvignon.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>As part of the commemoration of the 51st anniversary of the Friendship Cup, held every year by the Old Christian Club of Uruguay and the Old Grangonian Club of Chile to honor the survivors of the Miracle of the Andes and those who remained in the mountains, Vi\u00f1a Don Melchor wanted to be part of the tradition and recognize the survivors at the foot of the Andes Mountains, a place so important and full of symbolism both for them and for Vi\u00f1a Don Melchor.<\/p>\n<p>Accompanied by a group of relatives of the survivors and members of both rugby clubs, Roberto Canessa and Antonio Vizint\u00edn had the opportunity to taste parcels 1, 3 and 5 together with Don Melchor&#8217;s 2020 vintage. They were joined by Santiago Deicas, winemaker of the Deicas Family and Concha y Toro &#8216;s commercial partner in Uruguay through Almena, our distributor in that market.<\/p>\n<p>After having been part of the Don Melchor experience and being at the foot of the Andes Mountains, Antonio Vizintin recognized the spectacularity not only of the combination of the vineyards with the snow-capped mountains, but also of the mix of flavors of the wines and how they are produced. &#8220;It&#8217;s something brutal; it&#8217;s incredible that with so little, with a few small grapes, you can achieve all that. It is a very nice set and the truth is that it has a very special flavor,&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n<p>In the meeting there was also space to recognize the importance of teamwork in the production of Don Melchor, which according to Vizintin is very similar to what happened to them in the mountain, where each one from their different positions was important to achieve the common goal: &#8220;each one gives 100% of what they have to give and that conjugates a great product that is Don Melchor&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Roberto, Tintin, you have inspired so many people with your story, and we are some of them. Having you here is a real honor and leaves a mark on this place. At Vi\u00f1a Don Melchor we are committed to continue working on a wine that reflects the greatness of the Andes Mountains, just as you have taught us,&#8221; <strong>complemented Jos\u00e9 Parodi, Concha y Toro&#8217;s Latam Export Manager.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Referring to the brotherhood between Chile and Uruguay through traditions, rugby, the Andes Mountains and wine, Roberto Canessa and Antonio Vizintin said goodbye to Don Melchor. &#8220;Rugby has united us, the Andes have united us, today we are also united by wine, so I toast to those present and those absent&#8221;, commented Antonio Vizintin at the end of the visit.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Roberto Canessa and Antonio &#8220;Tintin&#8221; Vizint\u00edn experienced Don Melchor, Puente Alto &#8216;s icon Cabernet Sauvignon.
