The British MW, Tim Atkin, toured the vineyards of Limar\u00ed and Pirque, where he tasted the new vintages of Concha y Toro’s wine portfolio. He also visited Casona Don Melchor in Pirque to taste a new vintage of Puente Alto’s icon Cabernet Sauvignon.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

As part of his tour of Chile to evaluate the new vintages that will form part of his Chile 2025 Report, wine critic and Master of Wine Tim Atkin visited Vi\u00f1a Concha y Toro to learn about the latest developments in its wines.<\/p>\n

The visit began in Limar\u00ed, the region where the Chardonnay and Pinot Noir wines come from. There, Marcelo Papa, Concha y Toro’s Technical Director, led an interesting tour of the Quebrada Seca vineyard, followed by a tasting that included a wide selection of wines from the portfolio.<\/p>\n

\u2018It was very positive to welcome Tim to our Quebrada Seca vineyard, where we were able to show him first-hand the exceptional qualities in terms of climate and soil profile that make up this great terroir to produce high-end Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. Being able to delve into the different series of soils in our vineyard and how this diversity contributes to generate very interesting flavour profiles and structure in our wines, was a great pleasure to share with Tim\u2019, says Marcelo Papa.<\/strong><\/p>\n

On another day, Tim Atkin travelled to La Casona in Pirque, where he tasted wines from the Maipo Andes appellation, with an emphasis on Cabernet Sauvignon from our Terrunyo, Marques de Casa Concha and Concha y Toro The Wine lines. He also had the opportunity to taste the new vintages of Carmenere de Peumo, including Carm\u00edn de Peumo, Terrunyo Carmenere and Marques de Casa Concha Carmenere.<\/p>\n

During the visit to the Casona, Enrique Tirado, CEO and Technical Director of Vi\u00f1a Don Melchor, together with winemaker Isabel Mitarakis, conducted a vertical tasting of Don Melchor, where they were able to delve into the winemaking consistency, excellence and elegance of this great Cabernet Sauvignon from Puente Alto.<\/p>\n

\u2018The 2022 vintage of Don Melchor, which will soon be available in our markets, is composed of 95% Cabernet Sauvignon, 3% Cabernet Franc, 1% Merlot and 1% Petit Verdot. This wine stands out for its intense aromatic expression, great concentration of flavours, energy, richness and finesse, characteristics that reflect its origin in the acclaimed Puente Alto appellation\u2019, says Enrique Tirado.<\/strong><\/p>\n
