In the framework of the World CO2 Reduction Day, we present some of the initiatives present in the company, which seek to combat climate change.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

Vi\u00f1a Concha y Toro reaffirms its commitment to sustainability by implementing atmospheric carbon removal strategies that take advantage of the company’s natural assets, such as forests, vineyards and soils. These initiatives, aligned with best regenerative practices, stand out as an exemplary model in the wine industry and follow international trends of giving nature a leading role in the fight against climate change.<\/p>\n

Carbon Capture and Regenerative Practices<\/strong><\/p>\n

Currently, 100% of Vi\u00f1a Concha y Toro’s agricultural land is managed under regenerative practices that improve soil health, increase biodiversity and promote carbon sequestration. These practices have enabled the company to measure, from 2022, the annual carbon capture in its native forests, achieving more than 15 thousand tons of CO2 equivalent (CO2e). This figure fully offsets the emissions generated by its agricultural operations.<\/p>\n

In addition, since the beginning of its afforestation program, the company has planted more than 25 thousand native trees and aims to reach 30 thousand by 2025. This effort not only contributes to carbon sequestration, but also to the strengthening of local ecosystems.<\/p>\n

Protection of Native Forests and Biodiversity<\/strong><\/p>\n

Vi\u00f1a Concha y Toro protects 4,272 hectares of native forest certified under the international standard FSC \u00ae (Forest Stewardship Council). These forests play a crucial role in the regulation of the water cycle, carbon sequestration and the preservation of essential habitats for biodiversity. As part of its commitment to local communities, the company collaborates with the National Forestry Corporation (CONAF) to give talks on forest care and forest fire prevention.<\/p>\n

Monitoring and Progress<\/strong><\/p>\n

The winery has incorporated advanced technologies, such as environmental DNA analysis, to monitor biodiversity at its key properties, including the Santa Raquel and Palo Santo estates. This scientific approach allows the winery to assess the positive impact of its regenerative practices and ensure the health of the ecosystems.<\/p>\n

In 2023, 18,000 native trees were propagated in the company’s own nurseries, reinforcing the company’s commitment to reforestation and ecological restoration. Biodiversity monitoring conducted twice a year at its properties continues to generate valuable information for the continuous improvement of its environmental initiatives.<\/p>\n

Commitment to a Better Future<\/strong><\/p>\n

With these actions, which are embodied in the Corporate Sustainability Strategy – Uncork a Better Future, Vi\u00f1a Concha y Toro not only mitigates its carbon footprint, but also actively contributes to the regeneration of ecosystems.
