As part of the celebration of International Forest Day and World Water Day, we present some of the initiatives that demonstrate its commitment to the care of these resources.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

As part of International Forest Day and World Water Day, Vi\u00f1a Concha y Toro highlights its dedication to the conservation and protection of 4,272 hectares of native forest in Chile. These forests, certified since 2019 under the FSC\u00ae standard, not only harbor unique biodiversity, but also play an essential role in carbon sequestration.<\/p>\n

According to studies conducted by the company in collaboration with the consulting firm EcoSolution, these forests capture approximately 10,500 tons of CO2e per year, contributing significantly to climate change mitigation.<\/p>\n

Vi\u00f1a Concha y Toro continues to advance in the implementation of responsible management practices. The company is part of the eBioAtlas initiative, in collaboration with the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) and NatureMetrics, contributing genetic data from its ecosystems to a global biodiversity map using the environmental DNA (eDNA) technique.<\/p>\n

Native forests and water are fundamental for agriculture, especially in the production of high-quality grapes that distinguishes Vi\u00f1a Concha y Toro. These ecosystems act as natural regulators of the hydrological cycle: they retain moisture in the soil, prevent erosion and recharge aquifers, ensuring a constant supply of water for crops.<\/p>\n

Since 2004, the company has been working to conserve these ecosystems. Over the years, it has restored 1,000 hectares and maintained another 3,272 hectares, reaching the current 4,272 hectares protected. This effort is aligned with its Sustainability Strategy, which seeks to balance economic, environmental and social management. In addition, the company collaborates with the National Forestry Corporation (CONAF) in training and fire prevention programs, involving local communities in the protection of these natural resources.<\/p>\n

Water Care<\/strong><\/p>\n

Water is one of the main resources used by the company to ensure the growth of quality grapes and to enable the production of excellent wines.<\/p>\n

As a company we understand that we must use this vital and necessary resource, therefore we have the Zero Water Waste Program, which seeks to generate positive impacts on our planet, using only the necessary water.<\/p>\n

The goal for 2025 is to achieve a 10% reduction in water consumption per bottle of wine from the vineyard to the destination. This is an ambitious goal given that the vineyards are 100% drip irrigated, ensuring one of the lowest water consumptions in agriculture. As a reference, 99% of the company’s annual water consumption goes to irrigate the vineyards. Therefore, the role of technological innovation in irrigation is fundamental.<\/p>\n

The Agricultural Division is making progress in the automation of irrigation systems, ensuring their efficiency and accuracy with predictive models implemented in all the company’s fields.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
