Viña Concha y Toro obtains high scores and recognitions in the Descorchados 2025 Guide

With one of its wines awarded ‘Best Carmenere’ and all the brands in its Luxury Brands portfolio obtaining more than 93 points, Concha y Toro once again demonstrates, with solid scores, its extraordinary winemaking consistency in the prestigious Chilean wine guide Descorchados, by specialized journalist Patricio Tapia.

Don Melchor 2022

Puente Alto’s icon Cabernet Sauvignon, Don Melchor 2022, was awarded an extraordinary 97 points. This vintage stands out for its energetic character and finesse, characteristic of its origin in the acclaimed Puente Alto appellation.

This new vintage, which is not yet available for sale, is composed of 95% Cabernet Sauvignon, 3% Cabernet Franc, 1% Merlot and 1% Petit Verdot, and stands out for offering intense expression and precision of aromas and flavours, characteristic of its great origin in the Puente Alto Appellation.

In addition to obtaining this remarkable score, the icon Cabernet Sauvignon from Puente Alto was positioned in the rankings of “Best Cabernet Sauvignon” and “Best Maipo Andes”.

Carmín de Peumo 2022: Chosen “Best Carmenere in Chile”

In its 16th vintage and with a remarkable 97 points, Concha y Toro’s icon Carmenere, Carmín de Peumo, made by winemaker Marcio Ramírez, was crowned the Best Carmenere in Chile for the eighth time in the 26 years of the Descorchados guide. The country’s first icon Carmenere was also distinguished in the ranking of the Best Cachapoal Entre Cordilleras.

Carmín de Peumo 2022 is made from 95% Carmenere and 5% Cabernet Franc, and is a wine that faithfully reflects its origin, the terroir of Peumo, in the Cachapoal Valley. Due to its very specific climate and soil conditions, this place is positioned as the best Chilean origin to produce this variety.

Limarí D.O. wine awards

Amelia Chardonnay 2023 was awarded 96 points, placing it in the Top Ten Whites of Chile, as well as in the ranking of the Best Whites, Best Chardonnay and Best Northern Chile. The 2023 vintage stands out for presenting an ethereal, fine and tense profile, with good persistence and a saline seal typical of its origin.

Amelia Pinot Noir 2023 received 96 points and was included in the Best Pinot Noir and Best of Northern Chile rankings. The 2023 vintage of this Pinot Noir is a true reflection of its origin, presenting a more structured profile, with tannins, tension and freshness more present than previous vintages.

Both wines come from the Quebrada Seca vineyard, located in the acclaimed Limarí appellation, today recognized as the cradle of the great Chilean Chardonnay and Pinot Noir.

D.O. Maipo Andes Wine Awards

Terrunyo Cabernet Sauvignon 2022 scored 96 points and was highlighted in the Best Cabernet Sauvignon and Best Maipo Andes rankings. Sourced from the Pirque vineyard, one of Concha y Toro’s oldest vineyards, this Cabernet Sauvignon has been receiving notable scores and mentions in this guide for 19 consecutive vintages.

Marques de Casa Concha Heritage 2022 achieved 94 points in its third vintage. This is a Cabernet Sauvignon-based wine with Bordeaux character, with Cabernet Sauvignon (80%) and Cabernet Franc (20%) in its composition, and represents the origin and tradition of Concha y Toro, being made in the El Mariscal vineyard located in the exclusive terroir of Puente Alto, which has played a fundamental role in the modern history of wine in Chile.

Recognitions Casablanca D.O. and Peumo D.O. wines

Terrunyo Sauvignon Blanc 2024 obtained a remarkable 96 points and was highlighted as “Best Casablanca”; it was also included in the rankings: Best Whites and Best Sauvignon Blanc. Unlike previous vintages, the 2024 vintage incorporated 20% aging in barrels of 4 or more uses for 3 months, which gives greater density and structure to this great Casablanca Sauvignon Blanc.

Terrunyo Carmenere 2023 scored 94 points in the guide and was included in the list of the Best Wines of Cachapoal Entre Cordilleras. This wine, from the 27th quarter of the Peumo vineyard, has been chosen seven times as the Best Carmenere of Chile by Descorchados and has received excellent scores (91+ pts) with 19 of its 24 vintages by this magazine.
