Viña Concha y Toro hosts journalists from the United Kingdom and Ireland for a memorable experience across Chile and Argentina

Over five days, a group of four journalists specialized in the beverage industry participated in a visit to Chile and Argentina, touring vineyards, wineries, Casa Don Melchor, Centro del Vino, CII, and Trivento.

Between October 19 and 23, Viña Concha y Toro hosted four journalists from the United Kingdom and Ireland, who engaged in a comprehensive agenda designed to deepen their knowledge of the company, its wines, and some of the key pillars that support its current position as No. 3 in the industry. The journalists included Leslie Williams, Jessica Broadbendt, Shay Waterworth, and Hamish Graham, accompanied by Ben Smith from VCT Europe.

The experience began in Chile with a visit to Centro del Vino, where the journalists enjoyed the guided tour and participated in a tasting of Amelia Chardonnay and Amelia Pinot Noir, led by Marcelo Papa, Technical Director of Concha y Toro. Following the tasting, they shared a lunch at Bodega 1883 focused on Concha y Toro Wine. The day also featured a presentation by Valentina Lira, Corporate Sustainability Manager, on the company’s sustainability strategy. In the evening, the group enjoyed the Diablo Vino & Fuego experience centered around Casillero del Diablo.

The second day focused on Viña Don Melchor. The day began at its vineyard located in Puente Alto, featuring a tour of various plots and the Sundial (Reloj Solar). The visit then continued to Pirque with a tour of Casa Don Melchor and “The Art of Blending” experience, led by Isabel Mitarakis, Luxury Wine Brands Winemaker, followed by a lunch with Isabel Guilisasti, Vice President of Fine Wines and Corporate Image.

Innovation and research were the highlights of the third day, which featured a visit to the Center for Research and Innovation (CRI) in the Maule Region. Accompanied by Director Álvaro González and researchers, the journalists toured the facilities, the experimental winery, and learned about ongoing projects and the contribution of applied research to the challenges of viticulture.

After completing the tour in Chile, the group traveled to Trivento in Mendoza, Argentina. There, they visited the Los Sauces and Los Ponchos vineyards in the Uco Valley, where they participated in a cooking class and a country-style lunch with Germán Di Césare, Chief Winemaker, and Gerardo López, Agricultural Assistant Manager. Later, they enjoyed a tasting of Trivento’s flagship wines with Germán and Magdalena Viani, Winemaker, at Casa Drummond, followed by a dinner accompanied by Marco Jofré, CEO of Trivento, and Silvina Barros, Marketing Manager.

In this way, over five days, the journalists gained insight into the different dimensions of Viña Concha y Toro and met directly with some of the teams and professionals who bring the company’s work to life in Chile and Argentina.

“These occasions strengthen our relationships with international media specializing in the beverage business while showcasing firsthand the work behind our wines, sharing with them a corporate vision of the company and its commitment to excellence, innovation, and sustainability,” stated Patricio Poblete, Corporate Affairs Manager at Viña Concha y Toro.
