Viña Concha y Toro’s Pirque Manor House was among the locations included in the busy schedule of Japan’s Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, Takamori Yoshikawa, during his visit to Chile, where he participated in several APEC 2019 meetings. Together with an entourage of 14 people, he took the official tour of the Pirque Manor House and learned more about the history of Viña Concha y Toro, Family of Wineries. During the visit, the minister also signed the visitors’ book on the Don Melchor tour (where he found out everything about this iconic wine, considered one of the world’s best Cabernet Sauvignons) and the Casillero del Diablo tour.

The minister’s visit demonstrates his interest in the Chilean wine industry (considering that Chile is the largest importer of wine to Japan, and Viña Concha y Toro is the leading Chilean exporter to the country) and the commercial ties between the winery and Japan. The Asian country is one of Viña Concha y Toro’s largest markets, and the company exported close to 1.9 million cases to Japan in 2018.

Viña Concha y Toro has a very significant relationship with Japan, and the first case of the company’s wine to be exported to Asia was sent to Japan more than 40 years ago. Asia, and in particular China, Japan and South Korea, are among the company’s largest and fastest-growing markets.
