Innovation
At Viña Concha y Toro, we encourage an entrepreneurial spirit and constantly challenge ourselves. We aim to transcend with solutions that add value to consumers. We believe in the power of systematic research, development and innovation to achieve a connected and sustainable future.
The company took a major step in 2014 with the inauguration of a Center for Research and Innovation (CRI) in Chile’s Maule Region. This pioneering initiative was designed to conduct applied research and develop new technologies in the areas of grape-growing and winemaking, aiming to contribute to the development and competitiveness of the Chilean and global wine industry, providing knowledge and new developments that enable the sector to face future challenges.
The CRI includes an Agriculture and Oenology Laboratory, a Molecular Biology Laboratory, an Experimental Winery and an Extension Center. Each area, equipped with cutting-edge technology, contributes to the objective of increasing the wine industry’s efficiency and competitiveness. Through its Extension Center and various training initiatives, new knowledge and technologies are disseminated in order to be incorporated into grape-growing and winemaking practices. Five years after its launch and with an R&D investment of US$6 million, the Center has achieved major advances in applied research throughout the production chain, responding to the industry’s quality, adaptability and productivity challenges, with more than 80 R&D initiatives developed to date.
