Cabernet Franc from the Uco Valley stands out with 96 points in Decanter
Once again, Trivento has received outstanding scores in the prestigious Decanter World Wine Awards 2022.
The Decanter World Wine Awards are among the most prestigious acknowledgments in the wine industry. This year, four Trivento wines from the Uco Valley stood out with high scores, including the Golden Reserve Black Series Cabernet Franc 2019, which received a Gold Medal and 96 points.
This 100% Cabernet Franc is created by winemaker Germán Di Césare. The grapes originate from a three-hectare parcel in the Los Indios Vineyard, located in Paraje Altamira, Uco Valley, Mendoza.
“This wine expresses itself freely, and our job is to find the precise moment to harvest the grapes, in order to reveal the character and textures of the Paraje Altamira terroir”, said Germán Di Césare, Trivento’s Chief Winemaker.
The panel of judges were resounding in their praise of the award-winning Cabernet Franc, describing it as “perfumed and inviting, with a beautiful aromatic nose of scented violet, cassis, dark plum, licorice and pepper, then to a palate of clove spice, blackberry, cassis and tobacco”. “It was spectacular, this year we have great, balanced wines, following two excellent vintages in 2018 and 2019”, said sommelier Paz Levinson to Argentinean publication Clarín.
The other wines produced by our Argentinean subsidiary that received awards include: Golden Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon 2019, with a Gold Medal and 95 points; and Gaudeo Malbec 2019 from Tupungato, with 94 points, and from Paraje Altamira, with 93 points. These acknowledgments highlight the outstanding work being carried out by Trivento’s technical team in the Uco Valley.
The tastings for the competition are organized by category, initially by region. The judges taste each wine individually, and are informed of the region, style, and price range, but not the winery or brand. They then compare notes and reach a consensus on the medal awarded to each wine. The medal categories are based on the 100-point system used by Decanter and renowned wine critics throughout the world.
