James Suckling Senior Editor visited our facilities in Pirque to discover and taste the latest vintages from Viña Concha y Toro.

Zekun Shuai, Senior Editor at the prestigious US publication James Suckling, is currently in Chile tasting the new vintages that will be featured in the upcoming Chile Report 2026, one of the wine industry’s most influential annual reports.

The day began at Casa Don Melchor, where Enrique Tirado, CEO and Technical Director of Viña Don Melchor, led an exclusive tasting and personally introduced the 2024 vintage of Don Melchor. This new release is composed of 97% Cabernet Sauvignon, 2% Cabernet Franc and 1% Merlot, and stands out for its extraordinary purity and elegance, attributes that faithfully reflect the unique character of its origin in the Don Melchor Vineyard, located within the prestigious Puente Alto Appellation.

Later, Marcio Ramírez, winemaker at Viña Concha y Toro, led a tasting featuring the latest vintages of Terrunyo, Marques de Casa Concha and other emblematic wines from the company’s portfolio. The session provided an opportunity to explore the diversity of terroirs that shape Viña Concha y Toro’s winemaking heritage, highlighting different varieties, styles and origins that reflect Chile’s remarkable geographical and viticultural richness.

During the visit, Isabel Guilisasti, Vice President of Fine Wines at Viña Concha y Toro, personally introduced Zekun to the new sensory experience at the Wine Centre, sharing the vision behind this innovative project, which aims to position Chilean wine tourism among the world’s leading destinations.

The day concluded with a lunch at the new Concha y Toro Wine Centre, attended by representatives from Viña Don Melchor, Concha y Toro, Viña Cono Sur, Almaviva and Baron Philippe de Rothschild.

Zekun Shuai’s visit represented a valuable opportunity to showcase the quality, diversity and richness of the different origins that bring Viña Concha y Toro’s portfolio to life, further reinforcing Chile’s position as one of the world’s leading producers of fine wines.
