Experts in Big Data and Artificial Intelligence visit the CRI
In the framework of the strategic program “Intelligent Wine Industry”, professors and researchers of the Center for Mathematical Modeling (CMM) visited the Center for Research and Innovation (CRI) to analyze the use of Big Data and Artificial Intelligence in the industry.
In order to make the wine industry more efficient and competitive, the Center for Research and Innovation (CRI) welcomed professionals from the Mathematical Modeling Center (CMM), who spoke about the use of resources such as Artificial Intelligence and Big Data to make winemaking practices move forward.
Worldwide, many industries are already adopting these new tools to optimize and modernize their operations. In Concha y Toro, the CRI has been in charge of introducing the winery into the world of digital transformation and how to develop its applications in specific projects.
The seminar, held at the beginning of May, aimed to learn from the experience of professors and researchers of the CMM, who have been working on the development of these tools for more than two decades.
“This seminar looks to explore our meeting points with the CMM, and how we could work together in a collaborative manner”, explains José Cuevas, Investigator in Engineering of the CRI and leader of the strategic program “Smart Wine Industry”.
For the CRI´s professionals, these opportunities are very relevant, as they reinforce the importance of collecting and processing large amounts of data – called Big Data – of the processes of the company’s value chain. This benefits decision-making, optimizes processes, maximizes quality and increases efficiency. The role that the CRI plays in this step towards digital transformation is fundamental, since it has the mission to evaluate and address this challenge for the company.
The activity also sought to bring these issues to other collaborators of the company, who could access the online version of the exhibitions through a live broadcast. José Cuevas highlighted this resource that allows communicating the contents presented: “We are taking advantage of the existing technologies and trying to make available the resources and material we have to all the members of the winery”.
