Colbún has awarded Viña Concha y Toro the Renewable Energy Balance Certificate for the company’s electricity consumption of 30,400 MWh in 2018. The certificate was awarded in the context of the power purchase agreement entered into between Colbún and Viña Concha y Toro in March 2017 for the supply of electric power for its installations and production operations.

The data gathered was verified by KPMG Auditores Consultores Ltda., which certified that the 30,400 MWh of electricity supplied to Viña Concha y Toro by Colbún in 2018 was generated by renewable energy sources.

“This recognition attests to the efforts that have been made by the winery together with other actors to increase its use of renewable energy and decarbonize its energy matrix”, said Viña Concha y Toro’s Sustainability Manager Valentina Lira.

Colbún’s CEO, Thomas Keller, highlighted the importance of companies entering into this type of agreement to increase their use of cleaner energy sources. “At Colbún, we have a roadmap for renewable energy development, and we have already implemented solar and wind projects. These projects, together with our hydroelectric assets, give us the advantage of being able to offer renewable energy in a secure and continuous manner”, he said.  Viña Concha y Toro, founded in 1883, is a global wine industry leader with a presence in more than 130 countries. The company has approximately 11,624 hectares of vineyards in Chile, Argentina and the United States.
