Happy Earth Day
On the International Earth Day we tell you about some of the recent initiatives of our subsidiaries aimed to face the effects of climate change and generate a positive impact.
This Thursday, April 22, we commemorate the International Earth Day by telling you about some of the latest initiatives carried out by our subsidiaries in Chile, Argentina and the United States, intended to face the effects of climate change.
In Chile, our subsidiary Concha y Toro (including VCT Chile) set the challenge of reducing direct emissions per bottle by 30% compared to 2015, a goal that was surpassed, reaching 32%, mainly associated with the incorporation of initiatives in energy management. Among the projects that have helped to achieve this objective are the implementation of renewable energy projects, purchase of renewable energy certificates; weight reduction in packaging; improvements in transport efficiency between facilities and distribution centers; changes in refrigerant gases; and the Carbon Footprint program with suppliers.
Along these, our Argentine winery Trivento has contributed to the reduction of greenhouse gases, through certification to the ISO 14.001 standard for environmental management and through the installation of the most important photovoltaic plant in the local wine industry, an initiative that will allow the winery to replace 10% of its energy consumption with clean energy.
Finally, the several actions carried out by Fetzer Vineyards, allow it to maintain its leadership in Sustainability. To celebrate Earth Day, our Californian subsidiary announced a new image of Fetzer® – California’s iconic wine – that highlights its commitment to responsible business, offering a renewed image that places its forward-thinking sustainable practices to the fore for consumers.
