Viña Concha y Toro successfully participated in Wine Innovation Summit

The first international virtual event on innovation in the world wine industry was held this Wednesday, with the participation of Álvaro González, Director of the Center for Research and Innovation (CRI) of Viña Concha y Toro, and also Pedro Bonoris, Engineer of Agricultural Projects at Trivento.

‘I am grateful for this opportunity where we were able to present the vision of Viña Concha y Toro and the five programmes of the CRI’s strategic plan. In turn, it allowed us to strengthen the role of technology and artificial intelligence in industry today, which helps us to make decisions or predict events in advance and with greater certainty, through the application of data science, ‘explained Álvaro González, Director of the CRI.

Pedro Bonoris, Engineer of Agricultural Projects at Trivento, presented the three strategic research pillars that are currently being studied in the winery, where the management of nutrients, the study of soil microorganisms and the benefits of organic matter to the soils of the vineyards stand out.

In this unprecedented event, with the participation of wineries from Chile, Argentina, Spain and the United States, the attendees were able to learn about the main problems and innovative cases that are being carried out in the three wine production processes -agriculture, winemaking and sales-in the world.

‘I believe that to achieve the technology-based innovation in line with the 4,0 industrial revolution, it is essential to strengthen the public-private-academy partnerships in R+D+I projects, also aiming at greater construction of inhouse capacities, and finally diversifying the knowledge of the ecosystem, ‘ concluded Álvaro González.
