Viña Concha y Toro receives World Changing Ideas Award

Fast Company highlighted the winery’s circular economy initiative which upcycles PET liner residue as a raw material for the production of dish soap bottles.

Leading business media brand Fast Company recently released the results of its World Changing Ideas Awards 2021, in which it evaluated more than 4,000 circular economy initiatives from all over the world, granting Viña Concha y Toro an Honorable Mention for the company’s PET liner residue upcycling circular economy project.

“This innovative initiative shows how far we have come in our waste management, transforming waste into consumer products. Plastic residue from PET liner labels originating from our Vespucio Plant are reused in the production of 100% recycled and biodegradable dish soap bottles. This is an excellent example of the circular innovation and upcycling that the winery is promoting, and our strategic partnership with the company Virutex Ilko is a pioneering experience that we hope to replicate in the future”, said Valentina Lira, Viña Concha y Toro’s Sustainability Manager.

This circular economy success case was one of 22 initiatives to receive an honorable mention in the consumer products category, out of more than 200 initiatives included from all over the world.
